The Aitoliko or the Etoliko Lagoon (Greek: Λιμνοθάλασσα Αιτωλικού Limnothalassa Aitolikou or -Etolikou) is a lagoon located in the south of the Etoloakarnania prefecture and forms a part of the Acheloos river. In the middle of the lagoon is a small island which has a city that is also named Aitoliko. The road linking Astakos and the GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Agrinio - Ioannina lies to the south. The Acheloos river flows to the west.
The lagoon was created by an earthquake and is 28 metres deep. Its water is sweet. For this reason, it is a better fishing area than the neighbouring Messolongi Lagoon.
